Trevor Dunn Releases “Nocturnes”

Trevor Dunn: NocturnesSince turning 50 last year, Trevor Dunn has made a point of releasing his own music. The bassist, who is known for his work with bands like Mr. Bungle and Fantômas, has just put out a new album of classical chamber music. Nocturnes is the first of five distinct projects coming soon and features five pieces of “moody and brooding” modern chamber music.

“I’ve been playing in rock bands pretty consistently for as long as I’ve played bass which is approaching 40 years,” Dunn told FaithNoMoreFollowers.com. “Writing chamber music has been much more sporadic and I feel deserves more attention.”

Dunn performs the songs on double bass. The pieces range from a string quartet to Nocturnes for the piano to a trio for piano, violin, and bass.

Nocturnes is available now on CD and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).

Nocturnes Track List:

  1. String Quartet Nr 1
  2. Six Nocturnes
  3. Melody for Contrabass with String Quartet
  4. Tertiam
  5. Vocem
