D’Angelo & The Vanguard: “Betray My Heart” & “Spanish Joint”
Can you ever get enough Pino Palladino? My vote is no.
Case in point: check out Pino in concert with D’Angelo from the 2015 North Sea Jazz Festival. The band kicks off with “Betray My Heart” during which Palladino dishes out an upper register quasi-walking line that sits just right in the pocket. He drops to the low end for “Spanish Joint” with a Latin-tinged soul groove.
As always, the feel is perfect.
