Béla Fleck & The Flecktones Add New 30th Anniversary Tour Dates
Béla Fleck & The Flecktones are keeping the party going as they’ve announced a second leg of their 30th Anniversary Tour. The group’s next round of touring will focus on the East Coast from November to March of 2020.
“The band is a creative idealistic project, one that somehow connects with people in a profound way,” says Béla. “Nothing about any of that has changed in 30 years. The Flecktones are touring for the sheer love of playing and celebrating our friendship. That’s why we get together these days.”
The Flecktones are currently back to their original lineup of banjoist Béla Fleck, pianist/harmonica player Howard Levy, percussionist Roy “Future Man” Wooten, and bassist Victor Wooten. They’re all still in top shape, as evidenced by this clip of “Sex in a Pan” from last year.
“Originally, I wrote ‘Sex in a Pan’ as a solo bass tune, but everything is better with the Flecktones on it,” Wooten says. “I bet people didn’t know banjo and harmonica could be that funky.”
