Foreigner’s “Live at the Rainbow ’78” Available Now

Foreigner: Live at the Rainbow ’78A classic Foreigner gig from the band’s prime is now available as an album and a concert film. Live at the Rainbow ’78 captures the group during a sold-out show at London’s Rainbow Theatre on April 27, 1978.

Lead guitarist Mick Jones says it was a remarkable year for the band. At the time of the show, Foreigner’s self-titled debut has been in the US Top 20 for a year and had the hits “Feels Like the First Time” and “Cold as Ice.” The Rainbow gig also featured two tracks that would be released on their next album, Double Vision, with “Hot Blooded” and “Double Vision.”

“1978 was an absolutely magical time for the band,” Jones remembers, “and to come back over to the UK to play a headline show at the legendary Rainbow really was a dream come true. The audience was amazing that night. We couldn’t have wished for a better show.”

Live at the Rainbow ’78 features the classic Foreigner lineup with bassist Ed Gagliardi holding down the low end. Check out “Cold As Ice”:
