Elvis Presley Estate Releases “Live 1969” CD Set, Featuring Jerry Scheff

Elvis Presley’s big comeback in 1969 began with a run of 57 sold-out shows at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. It was the dawn of a new era for the superstar, thanks in part to a new band put together by guitarist James Burton.

The group included session bassist Jerry Scheff, who went on to be in Presley’s backing band for years. (He also would play bass for John Denver, The Doors, and many more.)

A new release features eleven complete sets from Presley’s August 1969 run, four of which are being released in full for the first time ever. Each night had a set packed with the singer’s classic hits and the new singles “In The Ghetto” and “Suspicious Minds.”
