John Goldsby Releases Advanced Jazz Bass Course on Discover Double Bass

John Goldsby

Jazz bassist John Goldsby has just released his second course on Discover Double Bass. “Jazz Bass Vol.2: Stretching Out” expands on the first course by digging into more challenging techniques and concepts. As such, it’s designed for intermediate to advanced bassists.

“It comprises 39 lessons over almost 4 hours and covers a wide range of topics on jazz bass which will make a real difference to you playing,” the website writes.

The lessons include playing fast walking bass lines, how to practice two-octave scales, triad pairs, arpeggios, and more. Of course, Goldsby talks about soloing and walking concepts to increase your jazz vocabulary. He does this using chord progressions from common jazz standards like “Cherokee,” “Stella by Starlight,” and “Rhythm Changes.” Most of the lessons have piano and drums accompaniment with play-along tracks for you to hone your chops on your own. All of the lessons also include detailed transcriptions of Goldsby’s compositions, exercises, and etudes.

Goldsby’s new course is available now through DiscoverDoubleBass.com at a special introductory price of $74.25. The regular price will be $99.
