Sam Wilkes Releases “Live on the Green”

Sam Wilkes: Live on the GreenBassist Sam Wilkes has been blowing everyone away with his performances alongside Knower, Chaka Khan, and Scary Pockets. Now he’s released a live album of his own called Live on the Green.

“On November 15, 2018, Sam Wilkes Filled the Highland Park Ebell Club with Astroturf to help deaden the acoustics of the large room, and to provide a shared space for the music and audience,” the liner notes read. “Joining Him for the performance was Sam Gendel on alto saxophone, Jacob Mann on Roland Juno 106 and Korg Kronos, Christian Euman on drums, and Adam Ratner and Brian Green on electric guitars.”

While Wilkes is renowned for his blistering chops, the album focuses on lo-fi grooves and ambient textures for mood setting. Check out the track “Alma”:

Live on the Green is available now on vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
