A couple of years ago, my wife and I attended an intimate small club performance featuring Tal. I surprised the missus with a pair of meet and greet tickets. She’d been to many shows but had never had the chance to meet the artist(s).

Tal came over to our table and for a few minutes my wife and Tal engaged in the kind of talk that women do. Tal then turned to me and we started discussing gear, approaches to song writing and instrument technique. We lost track of time and her Road Manager (I reckon that’s who he was) came over and gave her the “it’s almost showtime” reminder.

Tal is one of the most gracious, kind and thoughtful people I’ve met, anywhere. She’s still humble and yet confident in her craft. She turned me to some performance approaches that even after 30 years a bassist, I was unaware of and it turns out that what she shared with me is peculiar to her own personal techniques for the most part.
