Nordstrand Audio Acinonyx Bass Available For Preorder
After revealing a prototype at last year’s NAMM Show, Nordstrand Audio has announced a production version of the Acinonyx short-scale bass. Nicknamed the “Cat Bass,” the bass takes its aesthetics from the classic Goya Panther with some interesting additions.
“This bass has all of the playability and phat tone you would expect from a short scale, plus the added fun of the tone control switches,” the company writes. “Tone choices are available with a push of a button. Go ‘All In’ by punching all of the buttons at once, which puts the pickups in series mode resulting in a loud, thick, and punchy tone.”
Nordstrand will build the basses with Hipshot licensed oval tuners, a proprietary custom US Hipshot bridge, and their own single-coil chrome cover pickups. It will have a weight of just 6.5 pounds.
