Reverend Guitars Announces Mike Watt Wattplower Mark II Bass

Reverend Guitars Mike Watt Signature Model Wattplower Mark II Bass

Reverend Guitars and Mike Watt have teamed up to refine the bassist’s signature bass, dubbed the Wattplower. The new Wattplower Mark II features many of the original’s design concepts while adding a new pickup configuration that they say gives deeper tonal options.

“The bridge pickup is a Reverend P-Blade pickup with an added extra coil towards the bridge for brighter tone and extra cutting power. The neck pickup is a Rio Grande Pitbull for deep, thick tone,” the company explains. “A 3-way pickup selector toggles between two P-Blade configurations and the Rio Grande pickup.”

Similar to the original version, the Mark II is a short-scale bass built with a Korina body and neck with a pau ferro fingerboard. Reverend fits it with Hipshot ultralight tuners, a Hipshot A style bridge, and Luminlay side dots. Watt’s aesthetic is all over the bass with an anchor inlay at the 1st fret, a front-mounted output jack, and the emerald green finish.

The Reverend Mike Watt Signature Model Wattplower Mark II bass is expected later this year with a list price of $1,679.
