Zycopolis TV just shared some great videos from The Yellowjackets 2019 concert at New Morning. Dane Alderson is in the line-up, masterfully holding down the low end on the tune, “Brotherly.”

Jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington has just released his first feature-length concert documentary, aptly entitled “Live At The Apollo Theater.” Washington is joined by his band The Next Step, which includes double bass rock star Miles Mosley.

Another one of the exciting developments at the 2020 Winter NAMM Show was the introduction of Ashdown’s range of bass guitars. The four new models are a collaboration with Dan Lakin, formerly of Lakland Guitars and currently of D. Lakin Guitars.

Wojtek Stanisz sent us this new video featuring his beautiful solo bass composition, “Flahjo.” “It’s based on harmonics and there’s also a live loop in this performance,” he shared, adding “there’s an Easter Egg for attentive recipients.”

Sammy Hagar has announced a new 30-date tour with Whitesnake for 2020. The joint tour will also include Night Ranger opening each night and will feature bassists Michael Anthony, Michael Devin, and Jack Blades.

Last week, we shared the terrible news that Juan Alderete was in a coma following an accident. His wife Anne shared that he is showing signs of improvement, but there’s still a long road to recovery. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help Juan.

Eagle Rock Entertainment shared this video recently, in advance of a new ZZ Top film that is set to release on February 28th. Here’s a clip from “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas,” which features the band performing “Brown Sugar.”

Former D.R.I. bassist Josh Pappe has passed away from undisclosed causes. He was 53 years old. The news was shared by his former bandmate Spike Cassidy on Facebook.

Neural DSP has so far released several plugins for modeling software. The company, founded by Douglas Castro of Darkglass, has now unleashed its first piece of hardware. The Quad Cortex is a unit they call the “most powerful floor modeler on the planet.”

Bassist Ida Nielsen may be known for her in-your-face funk, but she’s taking another direction on her new album, “02022020.” The release was inspired by the date February 2, 2020, and it’s numerical values.
