The new year kicked off well, thanks to some incredible bass videos on No Treble. Once again, the diversity is so cool to see. Here are your top 10 favorite videos for the month on January.

Last week, the bass community suffered a major blow with the loss of Mike Lull. Beyond his incredible craftsmanship, Lull was a positive force and an inspiration to all those he met. We wanted to honor him by featuring the M4V/M5V as our bass of the week.

Brandon Shaw sent us this video, and it’s a cool look into the creation of a great bass line by Carmine Rojas. The clip details the evolution of David Bowie’s hit “Let’s Dance” as it morphed from a folksy guitar number to the monster groove it became.

Jazz bassist Ben Williams has stepped out front on his new “sociopolitically charged” album “I Am A Man.” Though it’s his third solo album, it’s his debut as both bassist and vocalist.

Havok has announced a new album, and they’ve also revealed a lineup change. The band’s latest tour featured a mysterious bassist clad in a black outfit. Now we know that bassist was Brandon Bruce, who takes the reins from Nick Schendzielos.

Bass builder Mike Lull has passed away at the age of 65. A cause of death was not announced. The news was shared on the Mike Lull Custom Guitars Facebook page.
