REO Brothers: Penny Lane

I stumbled upon this video this morning, and I was completely knocked out. I had never heard anything by the REO Brothers, so I had to do some research. Here’s what I found, on Wikipedia:

“The Reo Brothers is a Filipino band composed of four brothers. The band perform renditions of 1950s–1970s music such as that of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Dave Clark Five, Bee Gees, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, The Lettermen, America, The Ventures, VST & Co. and other prominent bands of the era. The band became more popular after they performed at the ABS-CBN Christmas Special 2013 in Araneta Coliseum. It was a concert graced by over a hundred local stars and celebrities but it was Reo Brothers band that drew the only standing ovation that night.”

Ralph Otic is the bassist for the band. Here, the brothers absolutely nail The Beatles’ “Penny Lane”.

I can see why they had a standing ovation. These guys are darn good. no, better than darn good. Great. I wonder if they’ll ever come to the states.

These guys surfaced after Typhoon Yolanda devastated their home town in The Philippines. They have been lucky to play the Cavern in Liverpool. A dream gig for these brothers from Tacloban.
