Deep Energy Orchestra: Call of Kali

Jason Everett (aka Mister E) and Deep Energy Orchestra have just released a new video for the song “Call of Kali” from their latest album, The Return. The song, which also features Trey Gunn on touch guitar and Fareed Haque on a guitar/sitar hybrid instrument, is matched in epicness with animation by Graphic India that tells the story of Kali and other Hindu mythologies.

“I am so honored to have this incredible animation from Graphic India that perfectly matches the tone of the piece. It is simply amazing!” Everett writes. “Kali’s earliest appearance is that of a destroyer of evil forces. She destroys the evil in order to protect the innocent and is a symbol of the change and time necessary to achieve enlightenment. Kali’s most common four armed iconographic image shows each hand carrying variously a Khadga (crescent-shaped sword or a giant sickle), a Trishul (trident), a severed head, and a bowl or skull-cup (kap?la) collecting the blood of the severed head.”

The Return is available now via Bandcamp.
