Cort Announces the Artisan Series A5 Beyond Bass Guitar

Cort has expanded their Artisan Series of basses once again with a new model. The Artisan A5 Beyond is described as the realization of a bold vision for modern bass concepts.
“The Artisan A5 Beyond is designed with the modern specs from Cort’s best-selling A5 Plus SCMS model, including the single-cutaway body and multi-scale, ranging from 35.5 inches on the bass strings to a shorter 34 inches on the treble strings,” they write. “Cort has taken the tonewood selection a step beyond with the newly added Bubinga top, providing excellent articulation and deep sustain. At all angles, and with each detail, the Artisan A5 Beyond is a state-of-the-art bass for the most discriminating musician.”
Cort fits the bass with Bartolini MK-1 pickups and a matching preamp with a three-band EQ and active/passive switch. Other features include neck-through construction, a five-piece maple and panga panga neck, Hipshot machine heads, and an individual hardtail bridge.
The Cort Artisan A5 Beyond bass will be available soon with an MSRP of $1,699.

A general question: Would you buy a bass guitar without playing it at least once?
Yes. Most of the good ones ($500+) are really consistent in their quality, and final setup (that was going to be done anyway) solves nearly any minor issue with action or intonation. If it’s a make you’re totally new to, find a demo vid, and if it sounds good to you, buy it.
