Sire Guitars Unveils P5 and D5 Passive Bass Models

Sire Guitars is expanding their line of Marcus Miller basses this year with two new models, the P5 and the D5. Built upon the bass master’s preferences, both designs share some key features including a roasted maple neck, a North American alder body, and passive electronics.

The P5 is fitted with a Marcus Vintage P-Revolution Set with a simple volume and tone control configuration. Sire says the pickup produces “remarkable vintage and modern tones for studio recording and live performances.” It’s also the first Sire instrument with a wider neck profile. The P5 comes in four and five-string versions with Tobacco Sunburst, Red, and Mild Green color options.

The D5 is an even more vintage-styled instrument that is described as distinctly traditional. ”[The] D5 has a Marcus Vintage T-Bass single-coil pickup and a passive volume tone control specially designed for INTENSE level of tone clarity,” Sire writes. “Complete with chrome metal knobs, Marcus Miller Vintage-S bridge, and a BK 3ply pickguard.”

The D5 is only available in a four-string format with three color options: Tobacco Sunburst, Butterscotch Blonde, and Vintage White.

Sire’s P5 will have prices ranging from $499 to $599 with the D5 sitting at $499. They’re expected to ship between July and August.
