Slave: Mark Adams’s Isolated Bass on “Just a Touch of Love”

This is probably the second most requested funk bass line ever. Mark Adams is definitely on my list of top bass players. When this song dropped in ’79, it set the bass world on fire. Like their previous hit “Slide”, this track starts off with the bass front and center.

Mr. Mark had the NASTIEST tone I’ve ever heard from a jazz bass! He really digs in!! Come to find out, it was a J Bass with 3 Pickups!
