Ibanez Unveils New Iron Label Series Basses

Ibanez has brought back the Iron Label series of instruments including three new guitars and two basses. The metal-inspired instruments come with a stripped-down feature set in all-black finishes.

“The Iron Label line was originally developed with metal, and nothing but metal, in mind. We modded and tweaked until we got to the heaviest-hitting metal axes we’ve ever built,” Ibanez writes. “They’re purposefully spartan, and you won’t find a feature here that doesn’t contribute directly to the bone-rattling, earth-shattering tones these guitars pump out.”

The BTB625EX takes the company’s BTB model in a five-string configuration and gives it the Iron Label treatment. It’s crafted with neck-through construction with a five-piece maple and walnut neck with an okoume body. The ebonol fretboard is fitted with 24 stainless steel frets. Other features include Bartolini BH2 pickups, a three-band EQ with mid-frequency switch, and a 35-inch scale.

Similarly, the SRMS625EX is a five-string version of their SR model. It has all the same specs as the BTB except for bolt-on construction and the addition of an active/passive switch for the electronics. Instead of a 35-inch scale, the SR has a multi-scale neck with a 34-inch G-string stretching out to a 35.5-inch B-string.

Prices and availability are to be announced for the Ibanez BTB625EX and SRMS625EX.
