Ma, Duncan, Meyer, and Thile Announce “Not Our First Goat Rodeo” Tour
For the first time in nearly a decade, the powerhouse quartet of Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, and Chris Thile will be touring the U.S. The group of virtuosos announced they will be bringing music from 2011’s The Goat Rodeo Sessions and 2020’s Not Our First Goat Rodeo to nine cities over the summer.
Things kick off on August 11th in Nashville, Tennessee before heading to Alabama, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, and California. The last date is scheduled for August 22nd at The Shell in San Diego.
Meyer’s bass playing in the group is a perfect showcase for the instrument as he balances supportive low notes and often takes to the stratosphere in his solo parts. Hear him do both in the video for “Scarcely Cricket”:
