Here’s the roundup of the most-read stories on No Treble for the week.

This week, we published two great bass lessons, by Rich Brown and Olivier Babaz, interviewed Eva Gardner about her latest album, shared a story about Paul McCartney’s bass setting an auction record, and were saddened by the loss of Phil Chen and Leonard Hubbard.

It’s another tough day in the music world as we mourn the loss of bassist Phil Chen, who has passed away at the age of 75.

2. Paul McCartney’s Yamaha BB-1200 Becomes Most Expensive Bass Ever Sold At Auction

Van Eaton Galleries recently completed an auction to benefit Music Rising. The “Guitar Icons” auction raised over $2,000,000 dollars. Nearly a quarter of that figure came from the sale of one bass: Paul McCartney’s Yamaha BB-1200.

Another master of the bass has left us. Leonard Hubbard, aka Hub, has died from a form of blood cancer called multiple myeloma. He was 62 years old. The Roots made the announcement on their social media.
