Warren G, Featuring Corney Mims: Life Is Beautiful

West Coast rap icon Warren G has just dropped a music video for his brand new track “Life Is Beautiful,” and all he needed for it was his voice and a bass line. The song, which is a stance against violence in Los Angeles, is anchored by the nasty bass lines of Cornelius “Corney” Mims.

The three-time Grammy-winning bassist has worked with artists from Michael Jackson to Snoop Dogg to Phil Collins. You can hear the years of experience in his heavy groove with perfectly laid fills as Warren G speaks his piece over top. As one commenter wrote, you expect a beat to drop but then quickly realize the song doesn’t even need one.

On another note, a GoFundMe page was started for Mims to cover the expenses related to a family tragedy. Please consider giving if you can.

That’s really friggin’ cool! Great Bassline and the fact that it’s just Vocals & Bass is very ‘hip’ too! An old MD from Church told me to check out Warren G’s music for the bass guitar and now I regret not doing it soon. This is some good bass playing hands down. Enjoy

interesting stuff… mostly, GOD what a killer tone; can anyone tell what amp he’s using? I screenshotted it but not high enough res to see anything useful- hoping one of you more experienced low-enders might recognize it?

It is a Gallien Krueger amp. Not sure; but it looks like maybe a 12″ or 15″ combo, maybe a RB400 or RB700. I believe that GK has discontinued these models; but if you reach out to the factory they may have a couple on the floor that they will sell you. GK’s can produce killer tones!
