Charvel Guitars Introduces Five-String Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ V

Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ V Black

Charvel has expanded its bass lineup by introducing the Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ V. The five-string bass follows in the footsteps of its four-string predecessor, which is also getting two new finishes this year.

The throwback bass also has some modern features including a caramelized maple “speed” neck with graphite reinforcements as well as a 12”-16” compound radius fingerboard. Other contemporary appointments include Luminlay side dots, a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel, and a set of Powerhouse DiMarzio pickups.

“[The bass has an] all-new Charvel five-string pickup —an Area J DP551 at the bridge offers well-rounded punch while the Charvel 5-String Split-Coil P in the middle delivers classic warmth, kick, and clear tone,” the company writes. “Versatile electronics include three-band active EQ, pickup blend control, and a master volume control with push/pull selector. The push/pull selector eliminates the risk of losing sound due to a dead battery as a quick pull on the volume knob bypasses the EQ’s active circuit and regains sound from the bass without the use of battery power.”

Both Pro-Mod San Dimas PJ V and PJ IV models come in Platinum Pearl and Metallic Black finishes. Check them out in this demo video:

The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ V carries a street price of $1,099 while the four-string goes for $999.
