The Dip Channels Classic R&B On “Sticking With It”
Seattle-based seven-piece band The Dip has honed a style that pays homage to classic R&B vibes. Now that sound has crystallized on their third full-length album, Sticking With It. The group recorded it at their studio, which allowed them to focus on the arrangements and nuances.
“It’s really important to us to catch those lightning-in-a-bottle moments when you can feel the momentum of a song taking shape,” says drummer Jarred Katz. “At the same time, it makes a huge difference to have this home base where we can take our time with the sounds and not worry about that precious studio clock ticking away.”
The album is anchored by Mark Hunter, whose bass lines provide a solid foundation. Hunter utilizes perfect note lengths and note choices to create that old-school flavor. Check out “When You Lose Someone”:
