Billy Sheehan and Talas Release First Song in 37 Years
Billy Sheehan cut his teeth in Buffalo, New York with the band Talas. Now he’s revealed that the band has a new album coming soon. They’ve released a single titled “Inner Mounting Flame”, which marks the group’s first new music in 37 years.

A new box set is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Frank Zappa and Mothers of Invention’s 1971 lineup (including Jim Pons). “The Mothers 1971” is an eight-CD set that compiles the complete tapes from their Fillmore East concerts and more.
Bass of the Week: Tüi Instruments Mammoth Slayer
This week we’re checking out a brand new ancient bass by Tüi Instruments. Gert Simso shared his latest creation with us, which he calls the Mammothslayer. The spear-shaped body is made from bog oak while the lower bout features a deer horn for a leg rest.

Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters has unveiled a new set of dates to his upcoming “This Is Not A Drill” tour, which was originally scheduled for 2020. The outing will run from July 6th through October 8th.
Fender Unveils the Player Plus Active Meteora Bass
Fender’s Player Plus Series kicked off last year, and the company has just unveiled a new four-string in the line that shakes things up. The Player Plus Active Meteora Bass features a radical offset body shape fitted with two humbucking pickups.

Tool has released “Opiate²”, a limited edition package that reimagines and extends their classic song “Opiate”. The set includes a Blu-Ray with the song, a short film, bonus features, and a 46-page hardcover artbook.
Squier Contemporary Series Gets Four New Bass Models
Fender has expanded on the Squier Contemporary Series with two guitars as well as four new bass models. Both the P and J Basses have four and five-string versions.
Maarten Plukker: River People
No Treble reader Maarten Plukker sent us a video of him taking on the funky Jaco Pastorius tune, “River People”. He said while many others have covered a few of Jaco’s other tunes, he believes this is one of Jaco’s more underrated bass lines.
