Keep It Groovy: “The Joker” by Steve Miller Band

Here’s a quick and easy bass line to add to your repertoire – the classic tune by Steve Miller Band, “The Joker.” Often played by cover bands, wedding or corporate groups, or performed at jam sessions, this is a great groove to have in your back pocket.

This line perfectly outlines a 1-4-5 style chord progression but puts it in the context of a rock song rather than a blues. It also takes advantage of an F Major scale and uses the good ol’ open strings.

Enjoy this lesson and keep it groovy!
