Bass of the Week: Overwater Basses Hollowbody Carved Top

Overwater Basses has a beautiful hollowbody carved top bass in their lineup that is absolutely stunning. The model, which comes in “full depth” or “thinline” versions, is constructed with body cavities on the sides of the center block. The center block also holds the fixed neck joint and the wooden bridge that has “string-thru-body” capabilities by way of extended ferrule inserts.
“The unique design results in an instrument that is supremely articulate,” Overwater says. “A surprisingly lightweight instrument – the chambered body providing a resonant voice with a great balance of depth and clarity, whilst the carved top adds a tactile feel and elegant aesthetic.”
Standard options on the bass include a three-piece maple neck, swamp ash or walnut body, and a figured English walnut or figured maple top. Overwater offers a rosewood fingerboard for fretted models and ebony for fretless.
