Reverb Releases List of Best-Selling Basses of 2022
Each year, Reverb releases a list of the best-selling basses of the year, giving a unique look into the current tastes and trends. It’s no wonder that Fender and Squier dominate the 2022 list, but the number one spot is quite an interesting one.
“The Beatles’ Let It Be documentary that dropped last Thanksgiving spurred interest in one of the more surprising gear cameos: the band’s Fender VI,” Reverb’s team explains. “While these six-string basses had sold moderately well before, Squier’s Classic Vibe Bass VI model—the only Bass VI in current production—benefitted from all the extra attention.”
They add that the Bass VI is closer to a baritone guitar than a traditional bass, and had it been on the guitar list, it would have landed at number ten.
The list continues with the Fender Player Precision Bass, the Fender Offset Series Mustang Bass PJ tied with the Gretsch Junior Jet II, the Squier Affinity Precision Bass PJ, and the Rickenbacker 4003 sitting at the fifth spot. Other appearances on the list are made by Sterling by Music Man, Ibanez, and Hofner. However, Fender and Squier instruments account for fifteen of the top twenty spots. Check the full list below.
