The Smiths Bassist Andy Rourke’s Blitz Vega Releases New Music

Blitz Vega, the band comprised of Kav Blaggers and The Smiths bassist Andy Rourke, has returned with their first new music in over two years. “Strong Forever” is an anthem for those who are having hard times.

“This song is for the kids who are being bullied as well as people and families who are fighting battles to survive,” says Blaggers. “Mental illness and depression can stem from feeling helpless. When all the odds are against you, you stand tall and take every challenge as it comes.”

Aside from Blitz Vega’s return, the track is notable for its special guest: former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Although they have performed live over the years, the song is the first recording Rourke and Marr have done together in 35 years.

“We approached a few people to guest on the track, and I asked Johnny, who very kindly recorded some guitars and sent them over,” Rourke states. “Johnny and I have remained friends; we’ve known each other since we were 13 years old. He’s my oldest and dearest friend, and I feel our friendship gets stronger as time passes.”
