Jazz Master Tracks Releases Album and Playalong App

Jazz Master Tracks Vol 1Jazz Master Tracks is a new record label with a mission to help musicians learn. It brings together some of the world’s top jazz musicians into the studio to record standard repertoire at the highest level. The tracks are then released as an album as well as on an app that lets you solo, loop, and analyze the music.

“Taking the Jazz Standards as common language, the focus is on the performing musicians, the interpretations, the interplay, the interactions, their playing style, personality and approach to that common musical language,” the label writes. “As contradictory as it may seem, Jazz Master Tracks offers a digital opportunity to learn from the masters in the true aural tradition.”

Their first release is available now. Vol 1. Standards Sessions features saxophonist Tony Lakatos, trumpeter Alex Sipiagin, pianist Danny Grissett, drummer Bruno Castellucci, and bassist Hans Glawischnig. Glawischnig’s C.V. reads as a who’s who of jazz with credits alongside Chick Corea, Billy Childs, Bobby Watson, Maynard Ferguson, Ray Barretto, Ravi Coltrane, and many more.

Together they explore jazz standards often found in jam sessions, including “Good Bait,” “Darn That Dream,” and “Softly as in the Morning Sunrise.” Glawischnig’s playing on the tracks is superb, and it’s a treat to hear them soloed as well as mixed with drums to hear how he swings with Castellucci. His part can also be muted in the app, putting you in the bass seat with the band.
