Ibanez Unveils SRC6MS Multi-Scale Crossover Bass
Ibanez’s Bass Workshop series is an avenue for the company to try out different design aspects. This year they’re adding to the lineup with the SRC6MS Multi-Scale Crossover Bass, which is their take on a Bass VI. The original SRC6 Crossover was released in 2014, and the new 2023 model adds multi-scale construction to the mix.
“Functionally, it splits the difference between a baritone guitar and a short-scale bass, making it extremely useful for guitarists who want to explore ultra-low frequency riffs or bassists seeking something leaning slightly more towards the treble side of things,” Ibanez states.
The bass’s scale runs from 28.5” on the first string to 30” on the 6th string. Ibanez builds it with a five-piece jatoba and walnut neck, an okoume body, and a rosewood fretboard inlaid with abalone steps. Electronics include a pair of Bartolini BH2 pickups matched to Ibanez’s own 3-band EQ.
The Ibanez SRC6MS Multi-Scale Crossover Bass will be available at a street price of $799.99.
