Acorn Amps Introduces the Solid State Preamplifier

Acorn Amps Solid State Preamplifier

Acorn Amps has introduced the Solid State Preamplifier, which takes the normal and saturated channels from their Solid State amp and puts them into a compact preamp pedal. The two channels can be toggled via footswitch. While not bass-specific, the company also added a “thick” switch for enhanced low-end and added gain.

“In a 2021 interview, a relatively overlooked low-wattage practice amp was revealed to be a studio’s secret weapon for achieving wiry and aggressive tones for guitar, bass, and even drums and vocals,” Acorn writes. “The latest release from Acorn Amplifiers, the Solid State Preamplifier, is a recreation of the preamp of that highly sought-after amp, which has been packed into a slim pedal enclosure and loaded with features. Also, without the added cost of the power amp circuitry, the Solid State Preamplifier is nearly half of the price of the original Acorn Solid State Amp/Preamp.”

The Solid State Preamplifier has a three-band EQ with Pre and Post knobs. It is assembled in a 1590B aluminum enclosure and features True Bypass.

The Acorn Amps Solid State Preamplifier pedal is available now for $179.

Acorn Amps Solid State Preamplifier Features:

Two foot-switchable tone channels - “normal” for wiry, sparkling clean drive & “saturated” for aggressive gain
Toggle switch to add “thick” low end, added gain, and a signal boost
Pedalboard friendly compact design assembled in a 1590B aluminum enclosure
True bypass and powered by 9-18VDC pedal power. Consumes less than 100mA of current
