Bryce Paul Leaves In Flames, Liam Wilson Steps In

Liam Wilson

In Flames has announced another lineup shift as Bryce Paul has left the group. The bassist joined the melodic death metal band in 2017 following the departure of longtime member Peter Iwers. Paul explained his decision to leave in a blog post.

“After a busy year on the road in 2022, coinciding with some family emergencies, I started feeling more depression on the road than ever and an acute longing to be home, or simply put, homesick,” he wrote. “This isn’t an uncommon scenario for a road dog, but for me, it had become clear that I needed to slow down and just be present.”

In Flames made their own announcement on Twitter to share what fellow metal veteran would be filling in.

“Our brother Bryce Paul has decided to step away from the band. We wish him well on his future endeavors and thank him for everything he put into the band the last several years,” they wrote. “Our friend Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan) will be stepping in to help us out!”

In Flames is ramping up their live performances this year, beginning with an appearance at Hellfest in France this month. They’ll be appearing at festivals throughout the year.
