Unreleased Live Weather Report: Black Market

Rick Suchow is such a good dude. For years, he’s shared some fantastic videos we otherwise might never have seen.

He just dropped another unreleased video from Weather Report’s 1978 Astor Theater performance. The lineup include Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, and Peter Erskine.

“Shot by Dr. Fred Erskine, with an audio feed from Brian Risner, this is a great version of ‘Black Market.’ The first few minutes of Dr. Fred’s video were fairly unusable, so the live shot doesn’t kick in until 3:09, as Fred zooms in on his son and Jaco. As always, the quartet era of Weather Report is a thing to behold,” Rick shared.
