Magnolia Pictures Acquires “Immediate Family” Film

Immediate Family

The Wrecking Crew is one of the most interesting and inspiring documentaries on session musicians ever made. Filmmaker Denny Tedesco has been working on a follow-up called Immediate Family, and now it’s getting even closer to release.

Magnolia Pictures has announced that they’ve acquired the North American rights to the film, which focuses on the A-list session musicians from the 1970s, namely Danny Kortchmar, Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkel, and Waddy Wachtel. Together, they created hits for Carole King, James Taylor, David Crosby, Jackson Browne, Lyle Lovett, Steve Nicks, and many more.

“Denny Tedesco has given us another extremely entertaining glimpse behind the musical curtain of some of the most memorable songs of our time,” said Magnolia Pictures co-CEOs Eamonn Bowles and Dori Begley. “The musical talent of these studio players is rivaled by their incredibly engaging personalities and hilarious stories.”

Even fifty years later, the members of the Immediate Family have been working together. They’ve released albums over the last few years with a handful of concerts.

Magnolia will be releasing the film theatrically in December. We’ll keep you updated with more details as they become available.
