Fender Custom Shop Unveils 2024 Basses
Fender has unveiled the 2024 Custom Collection from the Fender Custom Shop, and it has a good handful of basses. Four-strings appear in the Limited Edition, Time Machine, and Artisan collections for a total of seven new models.
First up is the Limited Edition P-Jazz Bass Relic, which Fender says is the best of the Precision Bass and the Jazz Bass in one instrument. It takes cues from the ’57 P-bass and has a two-piece select ash body and a quartersawn maple neck. The neck has a flat-laminated fingerboard like a ’50s P-Bass, but it has a ’60s-style U-neck profile and a 1.5-inch nut for a Jazz Bass neck feel. The P-Jazz Bass will come in Relic Aged Cimmaron Red, Aged White Blonde, or Chocolate Three-Color Sunburst Flashcoat lacquer. It will have a street price of $4,850.
The Time Machine lineup will have a Bass VI DLX Closet Classic, a 1954 Precision Bass Journeyman Relic, a 1958 Precision Bass Relic, a 1966 Precision Bass Journeyman Relic, and a 1961 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic. Each was designed in tribute to models from their respective years with varying amounts of relic work to give a worn-in look. Prices on this range from $4,550 to $5,950.
Finally, this year’s Artisan lineup includes just one instrument: the Artisan Maple Burl Jazz Bass NOS. As part of the series, the bass takes the “tried-and-true vintage platform” and gives it exotic appointments. Its two-piece ash body has an offset seam and is topped with a 4A maple burl top. The neck is also 3A roasted flame maple and fitted with a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard. Other features include a pair of Custom Shop hand-wound vintage Jazz Bass pickups with vintage wiring, an RSE HiMass bridge, and vintage oval paddle tuners. It will go for $5,100.
The Fender Custom Shop basses will be available this year.

I would imagine the scale length of the Bass VI will be the usual 30″ and not the 34″ stated above.
