Dream Theater Announces 40th Anniversary Tour with Classic Lineup
For the first time in fourteen years, Dream Theater’s classic lineup will be hitting the road together. That includes James LaBrie, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, John Myung, and drummer Mike Portnoy, who returned to the fold late last year.
The world tour also marks the prog rock group’s 40th anniversary. As such, they’ll be performing fan favorites from throughout their catalog.
“This tour is going to be incredibly special for all of us! Each show will surely be filled with anticipation and a variety of emotions,” the band shared in a statement. “We can’t wait to step on stage together once again and begin this historic celebration of 40 years with everyone this Fall. This is just the beginning, and we will have plenty of more exciting Dream Theater news to share in the coming months.”
The initial itinerary includes a European leg from October 20th to November 24th. The band says the tour will stretch into 2025 and expects more dates soon.
In other news, Dream Theater has been working on a new album, marking their 16th studio effort and the first with Portnoy since 2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings. We’ll keep you updated as more details become available.
