Valkenburg Announces the David Pastorius Proto Bass

Valkenburg David Pastorius Proto Bass

Valkenburg has teamed up with David Pastorius for a new signature bass. The “Proto Bass” is the first of their Innovator Series and combines “modern options and styling with a retro-distressed feel.”

It features an alder body in hunter drab green with their “knackered” distressed finish. The flamed maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard. Valkenburg fits the bass with a black “hand imprint” pickguard.

Electronics include an EMG humbucker and P set with a three-way switch. Pastorius opted for Gotoh tuners with a Kahler locking bass tremolo bridge. “I have been interested in one for a while,” Pastorius shared. “There are definitely some cool sounds you can get with it as long as it’s used sparingly.”

The Valkenburg David Pastorius Proto Bass will be available soon. It’s available for pre-order. For more info, contact Valkenburg.

Sounds expensive. I checked out Valkenburg’s site and no price there, either.

Wonder if it comes as “road worn” or is there various finishes??? 5 and 6 string options???
