Spector Launches Doug Wimbish USA Signature Basses

At NAMM this year, we got a sneak peek of Doug Wimbish’s signature basses from the Spector USA Custom Shop. Now, the DW-4 and DW-5 have been officially launched. The four- and five-string basses were made to the exact spec of the Living Colour bassist’s own instruments.

“These signature basses faithfully replicate Wimbish’s originals, down to the smallest details like neck contours and nut widths,” the company states. “Customized EMG pickups, developed in collaboration with Wimbish, capture the distinctive sound that has shaped his monumental musical impact. These models invite players to explore the feel and response that have defined Wimbish’s signature style over the years.”

In addition to all the physical nuances, the Wimbish models have unique features and finish options. The DW-4 comes in Amber Stain Gloss and Black Stain Gloss, while the DW-5 is offered in Dark Blue Stain Gloss and Faded Natural Gloss. For the launch, they’ll also come in a limited edition “True Champagne” gloss finish.

The basses are built with a North American plain maple body and a high-grade quilted maple top. The three-piece hard rock maple neck is fitted with a Pau Ferro fingerboard inlaid with Mother of Pearl signature crowns to mark its 24 frets.
