Abasi Concepts Launches the Larada 5 Bass
Animals as Leaders guitarist Tosin Abasi launched Abasi Concepts to further his vision of ergonomic instruments. After showing a prototype several years ago, the company has introduced the first commercially available Larada Bass that they say expands their “aesthetics, ergonomics, and playability to a whole new audience of creators and performers.”
The lineup has kicked off with the Larada 5 Bass, which features a multi-scale fanned fret neck. The scale length runs from 34 inches to 37 inches to optimize string tension for clarity and strong fundamentals, especially in drop tunings.
“This Larada USA Master Series bass features an okoume body, three-piece maple neck, and maple fingerboard,” Abasi writes. “Each piece of wood is hand-selected, with great attention paid to quality, weight, and overall resonance of the instrument.”
Other features include Fishman Fluence multi-voice pickups, a 2-band EQ, individual string bridges, and a Graph Tech Nut.
The first four basses featured Black, Chalk, Cayenne, and Latte finishes. Each carries a direct price of $3,999.
