Orlando le Fleming & Romantic Funk Release “Wandering Talk”
Bassist and composer Orlando le Fleming has released a new album with his band Romantic Funk called Wandering Talk. The project continues to pay homage to the fusion of the ’70s and ’80s while bringing modern sensibilities.
A case in point is the track “Don’t Dwell on It,” which showcases “Tom Cawley’s keyboards sketching out stacked fourths to evoke the spirit of Mile’s melodically spacious 80s fusion, as [Nathaniel] Facey and “Philip] Dizack trade furious improvisations over the metric modulation.”
“I told them to go in at 90% and go up,” le Fleming says.
Wandering Talk is out now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Bandcamp, Apple Music, and Amazon Music).
