Metallica Launches Online Museum with Cliff Burton Exhibit
Metallica’s online museum, called The Metallic Black Box, has just moved to its official website, and it has launched its first exhibit. “Orion: A Tribute to Cliff Burton” is an online exhibit that honors the life and legacy of the band’s iconic bassist.
“The first of four releases in this exhibit, today’s drop contains everything from old photos and personal letters to new exclusive video interviews,” the band shares. “A huge thanks to the Burton family and friends for helping us celebrate Cliff this way.”
The collection has five pages of articles, videos, animations, photos, and more. Some particularly interesting entries include a sheet of scales he sent in a letter to his girlfriend, detailed photos of his gear, and a demo of the band transitioning from “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” into “Orion.”
The Metallica Black Box is exclusive to the band’s Fifth Member Fan Club, which is free to join. Club members also have exclusive access to limited merchandise, including rare photographs and t-shirts. Check out the Metallica website for full details.
