Marcus Miller: Live at North Sea Jazz Festival (2013)
We’re forever grateful to the folks at the North Sea Jazz Archive for dropping so much content from their archives.
Here’s one they recently shared, with Marcus Miller and his band performing at the festival in 2013.
Here’s the background: “There was a great shock at the end of November 2012: the bus transporting Grammy-winner Marcus Miller and his band had overturned somewhere in Switzerland and there were worries about the consequences of the accident. Had the bass guitarist/multi-instrumentalist perhaps sensed that the name Renaissance would be very appropriate for his 2012 album? He is known for staying “ahead of the storm”, as we know. Change is coming, that is the message he tried to relay with his Renaissance project. The concert by Miller (1959) and his band will be in the spirit of this album and this feeling. A musical, cultural and spiritual revolution, that is what the charismatic bassist foretold: “It’s all about returning to the essential aspects of the art.” This is what he shows with a band that has no fear anymore.”
