Snarky Puppy and The Metropole Orkest Announce New Collaboration

Snarky Puppy and Metropole Orkest

Nearly a decade ago, Snarky Puppy expanded on their jazz-funk foundations by recording the album Sylva with the famed Metropole Orkest. The collaboration garnered them a Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, and now they’re looking to repeat history.

The band will record a new album with the orchestra on January 16th, 17th, and 18th at KABUL à GoGo in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Fans will be in attendance for the two recording sessions each night.

“This dynamic pairing will premiere over 40 minutes of brand-new, original music written by Michael League,” a press release explains. “This is more than just a recording session – it’s a celebration of the boundless creativity that happens when these incredible forces come together.”

Bassist and bandleader League is currently composing for the session in Hiji, Japan.

“As an attendee, you’ll be (physically) right in the middle of the recording,” Metropole writes. “Headphones will be provided and you can elect to sit in any available seat you like, as always. You’ll be the first to hear the new music, the only ones to heart it in its rawest, unmixed, and unmastered form, and, most importantly, a big part of bringing it to life.”

Tickets for the event were released on November 27th. However, it is now sold out.
