Bear McCreary’s Epic Soundtracks Hit The Road on “Themes & Variations” Tour with Pete Griffin

Bear McCreary has composed some of the most epic soundtrack music of our time, including the scores for The Walking Dead, Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, Outlander, God of War, and more. Now he’s bringing the music from the screen to the stage in a world tour called “Themes & Variations.”
“After celebrating the twentieth anniversary of my first screen credit, for composing the music to 2004’s Battlestar Galactica, along with the release of my debut rock record, The Singularity, the time has finally come to take my music on the road,” says McCreary. “I am thrilled to perform highlights from throughout my career and visit some of my favorite cities in the world. I look forward to connecting with fans and bringing my music to bombastic life on the concert stage. Let’s go!”
The composer will be in Europe throughout April and will come to North America in May. Things begin on this side of the ocean on May 22nd at Gramercy Theatre in New York City. He’ll hit Boston, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C., before heading to Canada for two shows. The final date is scheduled for May 31st at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
McCreary’s huge soundscapes will be filled out by the low end of Pete Griffin, whose stacked résumé includes work with Zappa Plays Zappa, Steve Vai, Dethklok, Dr. John, and more. (Check out our interview with him on his solo work, too!)
Griffin has been working with McCreary for over a decade. Metal icon Gene Hoglan will be on drums, making for an insane rhythm section.
