“Every Amp Only Has One Input—Why?” Nathan East Breaks Convention with New Laney Signature Bass Head

Session bass legend Nathan East has teamed up with Britain’s Laney Amplification to release a new amp called the DB-East Signature Bass Head. The amp, which the company calls the new standard in their Digbeth range, boasts 1,000 watts of power.
East’s collaboration began at the very beginning of the signal chain, opting for dual inputs as well as dual outputs. Each input is routed through the preamp to its own dedicated DI out, which features Laney’s LA·IR cabinet simulation.
“Every amp only has one input—why? I’ll never know,” he says. “But this has two and two separate outputs so that the front-of-house engineer or anyone mixing the room can have each instrument separately.”
The DB-East has switchable and blendable FET and tube preamp sections that allow for blending warmth and clarity. Its three-band EQ has a parametric mid-section as well as a Tilt function.

Not true – the Sunn Beta Bass had three inputs.
I had one and it was great. But yeah that was my first thought too. Tons of fun with multiple inputs.
Agreed. I had one too. Wish I never would have let it go.
All of my amps have multiple inputs. Wtf are you going on about?
Not every amp has only one input. 1956 Gibson Thor has two
Two inputs have gone out of fashion. They were more common in the 80s. So I guess they go for a rather youngish Target Group…. old vine in new skins (or so)
