Pops Magellan Channels Raw Emotion in New Single “Drive Complaining,” Announces Debut EP Tour

As we get closer and closer to Pops Magellan’s highly anticipated debut EP, Damage, the bassist is dropping more singles to prep fans for the full release. She’s just dropped a new track called “Drive Complaining” and has several solo band performance dates to support the music. The new song is described as her “rawest, funkiest cut yet.”
“It’s about letting emotion spill in everyday moments, like driving. The bass sounds and lines felt like someone angry just complaining about random stuff.” Magellan says.
In fact, it sounds like the guitar and bass are having a conversation as Magellan offers a filter-laden response at the end of each phrase.
Magellan will perform a handful of shows in May and June, beginning with a headlining show at the famed Baked Potato in Los Angeles on May 14th. Her band will include many of the artists on her album, including drummer Noa Kahn, guitarist Artur Menezes, keyboardist Curtis Crump, and vocalist Laila Annelle. Special guests include Taylor Graves, Astyn Turr, Justin Brown, and Randy Emata. After that show, she will perform at the Blue Note clubs in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in June.
“I’m shaping my future while trusting where the process takes me,” she states. “I’m committed to evolving and to the purpose behind it all.”
“Drive Complaining” is out now digitally through Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more.
