Big News: No Treble Turns 16 and Enters a New Chapter

Celebrating 16 years of No Treble

On May 2, 2009, in the early hours of the morning, I launched No Treble.

Each year, I mark the occasion with a “Happy Birthday” post. This year’s update comes with some exciting news.

No Treble has been acquired.

Jody Miller, who many of you know from The Bass Nerds podcast and other bass-related work, is now the owner and CEO.

I’m staying on board as an advisor. Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time with Jody, and this past weekend, he and I met with Kevin. I couldn’t be more confident that Jody is the right person to take the reins. I’m genuinely excited for what he’ll bring to the site and the community.

Of course, No Treble has always been a team effort. We wouldn’t be here today without the incredible contributions of so many over these 16 years. I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to Kevin Johnson, Vuyani Wakaba, Ryan Madora, Mitch Joel, Joshua Sailor, Brittany Frompovich, Paul Thompson, Marek Bero, Ariane Cap, Will Marks, Adam Nitti, Adam “Nolly” Getgood, Alex Lofoco, Brian F. Wright, Brian Wroten, Burke Daugherty, Grant Stinnett, Janek Gwizdala, Jon Willis, Jukka Haavisto, Kay Shackleford, Keith White, Lorin Cohen, Luke Putney, Marcelo Cordova, Matt Hoffman, Matt La Maida, Michael Manring, Mike Frost, Miles Mosley, Peat Rains, Phil Palombi, Randall Kertz, Rick Toone, Rod Taylor, Seth Godin, Thomas Milacher, Damian Erskine, Donovan Stokes, Dwight Mabe, Evan Kepner, Flemming Doerken, Jake Serek, Jeff Gorham, Joe Hubbard, John Ferrara, Jon Burr, Josh Cohen, Mark Saltman, Mike Brown, Nathan Vencil, Olivier Babaz, Phil Wain, Ray Riendeau, Rich Brown, Rob Doane, Robin Rhodes, Rufus Philpot, Russ Sargeant, Stuart Clayton, Ted Gould, Thomas “MarloweDK” Risell, Tim Fletcher, Tom Kenrick, Travis Huisman, Wayne McLeod, and David Slavkovic.

And to you, the No Treble community, thank you. I’ve made countless friends and connections through this site. We’ve always been reader-focused, and that won’t change under Jody’s leadership.

Here’s a note from Jody:

“Taking over No Treble is honestly a dream come true, and I could not be more excited.

This site has been a big part of my life for a long time. What Corey and the team built here is something truly special. No Treble has always been a place where bass players could connect, learn something new, and just get inspired by the amazing things happening in the bass world. I have always loved the heart behind it, and I am so proud to keep that spirit going.

What makes this even crazier is that it is exactly ten years to the week since No Treble shared my very first video, a feature with Cody Wright. That was my first real step into this community, and now to be taking over the site feels surreal in the best way.

If you know me from The Bass Nerds Podcast, you know I love hearing people’s stories, talking gear, and just having real conversations about music and creativity. That is the energy I want to bring here. No Treble will stay true to what makes it great, but we are also going to find new ways to grow. More voices, more features, more chances to shine a light on all the incredible players out there doing their thing.

The community has always been the heart of No Treble. It is a space built on passion, curiosity, and the shared joy of playing bass. Whether you are a touring pro, a bedroom player, a gear junkie, or someone just getting started, there is room for you here. My goal is to keep that spirit alive and growing, to make sure No Treble keeps feeling like home for anyone who loves the low end.”

As I write this, we’re closing in on 20,000 articles. This one marks number 7,031 for me.

A toast to 16 years of No Treble, and to many, many more with Jody at the helm. Please join me in welcoming him.
