Wes Stephenson Takes a Standout Solo on “Slide Rule” with Mark Lettieri Group
The Mark Lettieri Group is locked in from the first note, sitting deep in the groove. Stay with it past the four minute mark and it opens up with Wes Stephenson stepping forward with a solo that keeps the pocket but stretches out with some tight phrasing and fast runs.
He is playing a neon green Bassmods 5 string, running through a Gallien-Krueger head and a Schroeder Cabinets cab. The tone is punchy and focused, with plenty of low end. Later in the track he breaks out the sub octave that thickens everything up.
