Wet Leg Drops ‘moisturizer,’ with Ellis Durand’s Bass Lines Up Front

After making huge waves with their debut album, Wet Leg has returned with a second offering called moisturizer. The group went back into the studio with producer Dan Carey again, but this time it was a bit different. The core duo of vocalist Rhian Teasdale and guitarist Hester Chambers were joined by Josh Mobaraki (guitar, keyboards), Ellis Durand (bass), and Henry Holmes (drums), who have been acting as the touring band for the last three years.
Durand’s bass parts weigh heavily on the record, thanks in part to textural shifts that leave him as the only harmonic instrument driving many sections of the songs. He also delivers simple, rock-solid bass lines that stick in your head. That’s by design.
“I didn’t I didn’t feel too much pressure [while recording],” Durand told The SoCal in an interview. “I was just really excited, to be honest. And we just wanted to write some songs that would be fun to play.”
Check out the band’s energy as Durand and Wet Leg perform the album opener, “CPR,” on Later… With Jools Holland.
moisturizer is avaialble now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Apple Music, and Amazon Music).
