After announcing a West Coast tour for the end of the summer, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones have revealed their plans for the winter. The genre-defying group announced a holiday celebration called the Jingle All the Way Tour, which sees the band performing music from their 2008 album of the same name. They’ll be joined by former member saxophonist Jeff Coffin, as well as the Tuvan throat-singing ensemble Alash, to fill out the music. This will mark the first time original members Fleck, Futureman, Victor Wooten, and Howard Levy will also be joined by Coffin.

“Christmas music is inside everyone’s DNA,” says Fleck. “Jingle All the Way is an open doorway for listeners to understand the Flecktones’ music.”

The tour will begin around Thanksgiving with two nights at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 26th and 28th. They’ll snake through the Midwest before covering the Northeast and heading south. The final date is slated for December 20th at the Joy Theater in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Wooten, of course, has killer grooves throughout their versions of Christmas songs. Whatever you think of holiday music, this is probably much different.
